Description:
Guadalajara, city founded for the fourth and last time in the year 1542 by the Spanish conquerors.
It is then a place with almost 500 years of history, in which buildings have been built and demolished, some of them of architectural relevance, some others without any aesthetic value.
A couple of years ago, the last building that was erected on this site collapsed and has left a void in one of the most historically relevant places in the city: the center.
How to integrate a hotel into the context without going unnoticed or breaking with the environment? This was the main question and the trigger for this project.
The answer that was reached was to take the characteristic elements of the architecture of the area and reinterpret them under a new scheme.
These are the patio, the plant, the arch, the materials and the dome.
Guadalajara is known as the pearl of the West because of this, an extremely solid, fluid and smooth exterior was used for its interior.
LOCATION AND ANALYSIS OF PATRIMONIAL ARCHITECTURE WITH THE USE OF QUARRY, ARCHES, INTERNAL COURT AND / OR DOME
The arches are offset from their center and are limited to their basic structure without ornamental elements, the material used is quarry from the region.
The internal patio is taken from the plant for better bioclimatism, creating a micro climate and reducing the use of air conditioning and artificial lighting, as well as the offset and closing of the walls.
The dome is synthesized and transformed into a hot air balloon that works as a luminous beacon at night and to make tours and have aerial views of the city.
As the balloon rises, GPS sensors located in the basket and in strategic places in the city line up and project information from the site on an interactive display about names, data of interest, historical facts, in addition to providing visiting options and schedules to tourist and historical sites of our city.
ECONOMY_
The main income of the hotel will be the lodging, however other sources of income are the restaurant, the bar, the spa, business center, cinema forum, rent of the commercial premises and the balloon.
